"My musical journey started before I can remember. I grew up singing, playing instruments, and enjoying music in every situation possible. Whether I was in the car, at home, or at school, it became obvious to me that music was a huge part of my life. Melody and rhythm have always had an effect on me. They help me feel and understand my emotions, and provide a satisfaction I’ve never found anywhere else.
I started classical violin lessons at the age of four. From the very beginning, I loved learning how to play songs from my favorite movies, and I taught myself how to play them by ear in my spare time. We had a piano as well that I would experiment with. When I turned 10, I wanted more than anything to learn to play guitar, so I started taking lessons. I would learn to sing and play songs from radio that had an impact on me, and when I was 12 I started going to open mics in my community and performing. In high school I participated in jazz band, where I learned to play saxophone and drums, and I gained an in-depth knowledge of jazz theory. At 13, I became serious about a career as an artist. I wrote my first song because I figured I should, but I soon realized I could impact people in the same way music had impacted me. It created human connection, and it was addictive.
My goal is to give people the same satisfaction that I experience with music. I make music because it is who I am. I have lived and breathed music since I was born. My experience with many genres, my extensive knowledge of classical and jazz theory, and my ability to play multiple instruments have given me an edge when writing my music. I take influence from an entire life of musical education, formal and informal. In addition, seven years of self taught sound engineering allows me to produce, mix, and master my own music, making my sound incredibly cohesive. It comes across in a full, polished sound that combines rhythmic complexity and melodic maturity, with meaningful lyrics that provide perspective on real-life situations.
My career has brought me to some amazing places. I’ve performed in numerous venues across my home country, including the Budweiser Stage in Toronto, Scotiabank Center in Halifax, and Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton. I’ve been given opportunities to share the stage with artists like Daya, The Vamps, and Sabrina Carpenter. I’ve accumulated over 4 million streams on Spotify, and over 1.6 million views on YouTube.
It’s hard for me to explain exactly who I am. The best way I know how is to play you some music. I’ve really come to realize how much this art form has defined who I am my whole life, and I know it will continue to do so past my years on this earth. This is why I make music; I simply cannot imagine my life without it."
